Bringing J.Don Academy to Fruition

Education Destiny (EDG) is actively seeking strategic funding to bring the J.Don Academy to fruition. Acting as the advisory arm for the Prof. Olewe Nyunya Foundation, EDG will establish this flagship institution to honour a legendary academician who trained global diplomats.

Empowering ALL Youth in Underserved Communities Through Creativity, Literacy & Education

A structured 2026 pilot uniting two organisations around a single, urgent mission: to equip youth with emotional resilience, creative expression, and literacy skills, and to protect them from mental health collapse and addiction.

Led by The Books & Trunks Society

Establishing enriched reading corners, hosting story reading sessions, organizing book clubs, and providing donated books to link emotional expression with literacy.

Built to Last: The initiative includes structured handover procedures so school staff and community volunteers can sustain these activities long after the pilot phase.

Pilot Event , Gacharage Schools, Kiambu

The first pilot will be held across the Gacharage Schools campus, serving the Kindergarten, Primary School, and High School, in Kiambu County, during Q2 2026. A full-day immersive programme for both girls and boys:

  • Registration, welcome gathering & community orientation
  • Music therapy & storytelling workshops led by EDG facilitators
  • Sports for mental health activities
  • Dance sessions with cultural grounding
  • Story reading & book club session led by B&T volunteers
  • Values education & emotional resilience module
  • B&T reading corner setup & book donation ceremony
  • Closing reflection, testimonials & community prayer

Expected Impact

Short-term outcomes from Gacharage pilot:

  • Pilot completed with documented outcomes
  • Young minds engaged in structured creative & emotional wellness sessions
  • School libraries enriched with donated books & new reading corners
  • Documented testimonials from school leadership on student mental health realities
  • Replicable event model ready for scale across Kiambu and beyond

Medium-to-long-term vision:

  • Reduced absenteeism & improved emotional well-being among participants
  • Sustained community book clubs anchored by teacher-champions
  • A permanent EDG–B&T alliance offered to other schools and counties

Legal & Safeguarding Commitments
  • All sessions follow child-safe, culturally rooted facilitation standards.
  • No personally identifying information about child participants will be shared publicly without explicit parental or guardian consent.
  • A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will be signed by EDG and B&T before any funds are raised or spent.
  • Transparent financial records will be maintained and accessible to both partners.
  • All donated books will be age-appropriate and vetted by community lumens before distribution.
